RENDEZ-VOUS IN SHANGHAI

Jaeger-LeCoultre partners with the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival for the third consecutive year. In 2011, Jaeger-LeCoultre announced that it would partner with the Shanghai International Film Festival for a period of three years, the primary purpose of which was to support the restoration of a number of classic Chinese films. This was the first time that a private watch company had made a commitment to support the restoration of classic films in China. The company has remained a steadfast supporter in this endeavour to conserve China’s rich cinematic history.

Uniting the 180 Years of Creativity and a Century of Chinese Cinematic Art

A press conference will be held in the Shanghai Exhibition Centre on the opening day of the festival to demonstrate Jaeger-LeCoultre's support for the development of the Chinese film industry. As 2013 marks the 180th anniversary of Jaeger-LeCoultre, distinguished friends of the brand will join the celebrations, including actress and Jaeger-LeCoultre brand ambassador Zhao Wei, British director Tom Hooper - the President of the Jury for the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival, American director Oliver Stone, Chinese actor Wang Xueqi, Guo Tao, actresses Zhang Xinyi, Dong Xuan, Liang Jing, An Yixuan, Singaporean actress Fann Wong, Taiwanese actor-director Leon Dai, actress Vivian Hsu and actor Godfrey Gao. The talents will join Jaeger-LeCoultre at the evening benefit gala auction to support the restoration of classic Chinese films.

Golden Goblet Awards

On 23rd June, the jury of the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival presided by Jean-Jacques Annaud awarded its supreme accolade, the Golden Goblet Award, to Best Actress Ursula Pruneda for her role in THE DREAM OF LU (Mexico) directed by Hari Sama, and Best Actor Mr. Vladas Bagdonas for his role in THE CONDUCTOR (Russia) directed by Pavel Lungin. On this occasion, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Official Partner of the Festival, also presented the winner with a Reverso watch with a special lacquered engraving hand-crafted by Jaeger-LeCoultre artisans with the logo of the festival.

Restoration of vintage films

As a testament to its continued commitment to the Chinese film industry, this year Jaeger-LeCoultre will again hold an exceptional auction, the proceeds of which will go towards the restoration of vintage Chinese films. On 16 June 2012, at a prestige gala attended by influential public figures, celebrities and friends of the Brand, Jaeger-LeCoultre presented one of its very latest feminine creations, the Rendez-Vous watch, whose delicate setting, dial graced with mother-of-pearl marquetry and contemporary 36 mm diameter evoked universal admiration. This jewellery piece born of the inventiveness of the Grande Maison was sold for a consistently high price, bearing witness to the enthusiasm and growing interest for filmmaking heritage.

Red Carpet in Shanghai

Throughout the Festival from 16–24 June 2012, the red carpet in Shanghai welcomes the greatest names in Chinese and international cinema, there to present their latest film or cast their vote on the finest productions.
