Cinema and Fine Watchmaking unite once again to celebrate the 6th edition of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. From 10th to 20th October, Jaeger-LeCoultre, official partner of the event, will take part in all the Festival’s highlights. A voyage in the heart of the Middle-East, to the modern and dynamic city of Abu Dhabi, where the talent of cinema is rewarded and the stars on the red carpet are adorned with creations by the Grande Maison.
After the success of the Shanghai and Venice film festivals, Jaeger-LeCoultre reaffirms its commitment to cinema through its role as official partner of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. A participant in all the Festival’s highlights, the Grande Maison celebrates the Festival’s 6th Edition by presenting its latest watchmaking creations: the Rendez-Vous collection, along with Jewelry pieces and Grand Complications. These works of art are destined to adorn the wrists of the stars on the red carpet. Jaeger-LeCoultre also pays tribute to cinema artists with the prestigious Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Actor Award which celebrates the Festival’s best actress and best actor. These key moments reinforce the close links between the Grande Maison and the film industry.
During the opening ceremony of the 6th Abu Dhabi Film Festival, the greatest names in Arabian and International cinema dazzle on the red carpet. For this occasion, the finest and most spectacular watchmaking creations of Jaeger-LeCoultre delicately adorn the stars’ wrist in the light of the projectors. Iconic Joaillerie 101, Reverso, Rendez-Vous and High Complications timepieces celebrate the virtuoso and unique know-how of the Grande Maison. On 5th October, Film Festival Director Ali Al Jabri opened the festival and welcomed an array of talents like Shabana Azmi, jury President, Ilham Shaheen, Mena Shalabi and the actor Ismael Ferroukhi.
On 13 October 2012, Jaeger-LeCoultre hosted a Gala Dinner in Abu Dhabi to present its latest feminine Rendez-Vous collection to friends of the Brand in the Middle East. Wearing their Jaeger-LeCoultre timepieces, Film Festival director Ali Al Jabri, ‘Arbitrage’ filmmaker Nicholas Jarecki, actors Nate Parker, Agata Bobola, Menna Shalabi, Golshifteh Farahani, Egyptian filmmaker Yousry Nasrallah, and friend of the Brand Mohammad Sultan Al Habtoor were welcomed by the Grande Maison to this dazzling night at the Emirates Palace. Illuminated by the exceptional voice of Lebanese artist Maya Diab, it was the whole history of Jaeger-LeCoultre and of the Rendez-Vous watch that was told under sparkling stars in the magical city of Abu Dhabi.
Throughout the festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre showcased its watchmaking expertise along with its most exceptional High Jewellery and Grandes Complications creations. Friends of the brand and journalists discovered a combination of watchmaking innovation and virtuosity in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s timepieces which offer unrivalled beauty, reliability and performance. Haute Horlogerie and rare crafts came together to create the Master Gyrotourbillon 1, the Rendez-Vous Art and Tourbillon, not to mention the iconic Reverso and Duomètre lines, to the delight of collectors and connoisseurs of unique watchmaking expertise.
In celebration of the partnership with the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre was actively involved in all the highlights of the event, adorning the stars with its finest creations and presenting a personalised Reverso watch to the winners at the Black Pearl Awards: Best Actor and Best Actress, celebrating talent from the Narrative Feature Competition. The timepieces feature a lacquered engraving of the “6th Abu Dhabi Film Festival”, handcrafted in accordance with the finest traditions. The Best Actress Award in the Narrative category was awarded to German actress Franziska Petri for her performance in "Betrayal" (Russia) and the Best Actor Award went to Mexican actor Gael García Bernal in "No" (Chile, USA).
